Text: John 14:15-24 | Series: John 12-21
How do you prove to someone that you truly love him? What’s the evidence of love?
In the secular world, “if you love me …” is a phrase often used; sometimes to manipulate others. Yet, there is a way to show evidence of true love.
The Lord taught this in the final discourse in today’s passage. Note especially John 14:15, 21, 23, and 24.
Just before the Lord Jesus was crucified, He prepared His disciples for the impending persecution with this teaching on love. The teaching highlighted:
- The characteristics of true love for Himself (a superior authority)
- How they are able to have this love and
- What happens when they love God this way
Listen to the sermon and hear how God initiates His love towards us while we were His enemies.
It costs our Lord His life in demonstrating this love to us, setting an example for us to follow. Pay special attention to the difference between positional love and experiential love the He has for us.
May this unconditional display of God’s love inspire you to desire Him more each day.
