Text: John 19:1-16 | Series: John 12-21

“Behold the Man” (John 19:5), says Pilate.
“Behold your King”, he repeats in v14.

What irony that Pilate should use this phrase to mock Jesus thinking that what he said is the opposite of reality.

But we know that what Pilate said is exactly true! He was actually declaring the truth. What a double irony.

God sent His only son who is worthy of all honor, glory, and praise. Yet Pilate, the Roman soldiers, and the religious leaders put Jesus to the cross. What evil.

But we are no better. Multiple times a day, we put ourselves on the throne and have not revered the King of the Universe.

Know that we are the ones who have put Jesus on the cross. Instead of being angry with Pilate and the soldiers, we need to repent and honor the King!

Behold the Man.
Behold the King.

No one is more worthy of our love, honor, and glory!
