Text: John 20:19-23 | Series: John 12-21

Neither locked doors nor the heavy stone of the tomb was going to hold back the resurrected Savior.

On the evening of the first day of the week, when Jesus came and stood among the disciples, He said to them, “Peace be with you”.

They were probably filled with fear, doubt, unbelief, and shame (for they have deserted the Lord).

How slow the disciples were to believe in the resurrection even when the resurrected Savior was standing in front of them in physical form!

Yet, how powerful were Jesus’s words were “Peace be with you”!

After His resurrection, Jesus gave us gifts as outlined in today’s passage:

  1. Peace with God (v19-20)
  2. Purpose of the Peace (v21)
  3. Power to fulfill the purpose of that Peace (v22)
  4. Proclamation of the Gospel
