Text: Galatians 4:8-20 | Guest Speaker: Massimo Gei

As followers of Christ, we are to be agents of the Gospel.

The only way this is possible is if we first know this Gospel personally. But know this that we are known and loved by God even before we seek to know Him.

In Galatians 4:8-20 we see 4 things we need to do as agents of the Gospel:

  1. First, we must contextualize our ministry. Paul says “become as I am, for I also have become as you are”. We need to know and love the people that we are intending to serve.
  2. Second, we must model our faith. All throughout the book of Galatians, Paul references the work of the Gospel in his own heart. This is so that the same transformative Gospel would work and move within the people of Galatia.
  3. Third, we must speak the truth in love. Love and truth cannot be separated.
  4. Finally, we need to bear suffering. Paul is willing to suffer with the people of Galatia until Christ is formed in them.

Ultimately, Christ is our greatest example of truths.

  1. He indeed became like us, dwelling among us as Emmanuel.
  2. He indeed modeled his faith by always submitting to the Father and living a sinless life on earth.
  3. He indeed spoke truth in love.
  4. Finally, he bore the ultimate suffering by bearing God’s wrath on our behalf on the cross.
