Text: 1 Chronicles 21 | Series: 1 & Chronicles

We see David falling into the temptation of self-reliance and pride to make himself feel great as a King in 1 Chronicles 21. But God was displeased with this thing, and he struck Israel (verse 7). Then David humbly admitted and confessed his sins, submitting to the judgment in true repentance.

And David lifted his eyes and saw the angel of the Lord standing between earth and heaven, and in his hand a drawn sword stretched out over Jerusalem (1 Chronicles 21:16)
Our hearts are the same as David. We are rebellious, prideful, self-reliant, seeking glory for ourselves and ignoring God. Thus, hanging over each of us is a sword of judgement.

Are our lives characterized by the marks of true repentance that we have offended God?

Listen to the sermon to find out whether the Lord spoke to the angel to put his sword back into its sheath.
