Text: 2 Chronicles 14-15 | Series: 1 & 2 Chronicles

“The LORD is with you while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.” 2 Chronicles 15:2b

God Reveals Himself in this “Hide-and Seek” Game

The journey to know and follow God is like the game of Hide-and-Seek. Fortunately, God is not trying to hide from us.

God commands us to seek Him and promises that He will let us find Him. Indeed God wants us to find Him so much that He came to seek and save us by sending his Son, Jesus (Luke 15:4-6).

King Asa Led Judah to Seek After God

Today, we follow the story of Asa, the grandson of Solomon. Asa reigned as king of Judah for 41 years and he led Judah to seek after God after they had wandered off.

In 14:2, the Bible says “Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God.” He got rid of the idols that the people were worshiping.

The people believed that other gods would bring them blessings. But Asa remembered and followed the commandments of God given to the Israelites. God said “You shall have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20:3

God was Found by Those Who Desire Him

Asa led the people to repent.  With their “whole heart” and “whole desire” they sought after God. And “He was found by them, and the LORD gave them rest all around.” (15:2-4)

Asa took the charge to seek God first seriously.

Would You Seek After God?

The LORD God promises to bless each of us today when we seek him first. This sermon provides another example of this encouraging promise, which should inspire us to seek the Lord God before all else.
