Text: 2 Chronicles 25 | Series: 1 & 2 Chronicles

Half-Hearted Obedience

In 2 Chronicles 25 King Amaziah did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but half-heartedly (2 Ch 25:2-4). He also obeyed the man of God but with an obedience that was wanting (v9). Yet the Lord showed him mercy (v11-12).

How to Follow God Whole-Heartedly?

There were kings who sought God with a whole and true heart (2 Chronicles 15:17, 22:9). And there were also kings whose hearts were not wholly true to God (1 King 11:4, 15:3).¬†Amaziah “did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not as his father David had done.” 2 Kings 14:3

What was not right here? How are we to love Him with all our heart (Matthew 22:37)?

Half-Hearted Devotion to God that Seeks Idols

God gave Amaziah victory, yet he turned to idols right after the battle (2 Ch 25:14). The chapter showed a tragic ending for the king with a half-hearted religion.

God Calls Us to Seek Him Only

Are you seeking God only, whole-heartedly? Or are you seeking idols? Idols come in different shapes and forms and the sermon explains this in more details. But Idols cannot save us.

There is only One true God; One who has revealed Himself in His Son, Jesus Christ. We can only be saved through the One true Redeemer, Jesus Christ.

Listen to the Sermon and learn from Amaziah. Would you turn from your half-hearted religion today?
