Have you noticed that most action movies, that most superhero flicks are salvation stories. Yeah, I’m not saying they’re spiritual. I’m certainly not saying there’s biblical truths in these movies but most war novels, most adventure tales are about a savior. Someone or some people need to be rescued. They need to be delivered. They need to be set free. There’s evil that must be stopped. There’s a hero that saves the day and for hundreds of years, century after century, this has been one of the most well-loved story types. Could it just be that in the depths of the human soul, there is this awareness that our world is not as it should be? There’s a longing for things to be made right? There’s a deep desire for someone to come and save the day, and could it be that this longing we have inside of us have been given to us by our creator and that this longing draws our attention to the very reason the purpose why Jesus came to earth.
